Clouds - Baltex Bridge Cloud campaign august-september 2001 at Cabauw
The BALTEX BRIDGE CAMPAIGN: An integrated approach for a better understanding of clouds. The BBC was performed around a central experimental facility at Cabauw, Netherlands. Cabauw was part of a regional network consisting of 10 remote sensing stations covering a region of 100 km x 100 km in the central Netherlands. Aircraft observations, satellite analysis, and atmospheric modeling were centered around Cabauw. The campaign lasted from 1 August until the end of September 2001. A Microwave Intercomparison Campaign (MICAM) at Cabauw marked the beginning of the campaign. After 2 weeks the microwave radiometers were distributed over the regional network that performed continuous cloud and radiation observations using lidar ceilometers, infrared radiometers, and pyranometers. In situ cloud and radiation measurements by three aircraft and a tethered balloon were performed in September.
